Networking event with casting directors called off – Boston.com.
NeHollywood.com and NeHollywoodnews.com I for one was never in support of this event. It honestly gave the New England Film community a bad name and none of Boston’s casting agencies were ever in support of this event from day one. I am all for Networking and to be able to exchange ideas and perspectives of what is happening in Massachusetts movie scene. One should never have to pay a casting director or agency to get casted in an upcoming project,no matter what the fee is. It also tells one that it raises a huge red flag both in the Union and Non Union talent arena. The Boston Herald should have known better in writing the article about the event and the red flags presented in the article. You can pay a photographer for your headshots, great, Your agent,if you have one, gets a fee,great..but for someone to say you have a huge chance in meeting a Hollywood Producer or Casting agent at this event or even multiple movie producers is just wrong at all levels. I am very pleased to know that the event was cancelled and for anyone who comes to Massachusetts and think he or she can take someone for a ride like these organizers thought they could, Are wrong. Massachusetts or even as a whole, New England talent know better and will get wind of someone sneaky coming into town trying to take advantage of the growing film industry. Not going to happen.
