White Horse Productions to Film at Clapp School Site April 9
White Horse Productions will be filming a movie in the Clapp School area on Tuesday, April 9, 2013.
The yet-to-be named David O. Russell movie, about the Abscam scandal and set in the 1970s, stars Christian Bale, Bradley Cooper, Jennifer Lawrence, Amy Adams, and Louis C.K. Film executives have been working with Mayor Scott Galvin, Superintendent Mark Donovan, Police Chief Robert Ferullo, Fire Chief Paul Tortolano and other key city and school officials to prepare for the day of filming.
Russell’s last local movie was 2010’s acclaimed “The Fighter.” Woburn has attracted quite a bit of Boston-area Hollywood business lately. Recent area filming has taken place on Draper Street, and last November, Seinfeld creator Larry David filmed a scene for an HBO movie at Moore and Parkers in Woburn Center. Mayor Galvin characterized the one-day event as a great opportunity to show off the beauty of Woburn’s Horn Pond area, and promote the vitality of the City of Woburn.
The production company will provide adequate police details and proper supervision for the duration of the event. Final operational plans, including rental of facilities, are being reviewed and approved by all city agencies. Final review of plans and approval will take place by Monday morning.
On Monday, April 8, from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., site preparation will take place at the Clapp School, under the direction of the Woburn School Department.
Day of Filming—Tuesday, April 9, from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m., as follows:
Morning hours: Back lot of Clapp School. Minimal traffic disruptions, but there will be parking restrictions on all surrounding streets. Production Company is working with neighbors to limit inconvenience and make alternative plans. Woburn Police details, funded by the production company, will be present throughout the area to assist neighbors and citizens.
Morning hours: There will be a small film crew at the tennis courts at Library Place. Minimal interruption in the area.
Afternoon and evening hours: Filming on Arlington Road. Traffic detours set up and no parking restrictions throughout the area of Arlington Road, and the low end of intersecting streets. Arlington Road from Lake Avenue will be detoured onto Main Street. There will be some interruption of pedestrian traffic. The production company will provide assistance in helping pedestrians in the area.
