Hingham has eye on Hollywood – Hingham, Massachusetts – The Hingham Journal.

NeHollywood.com Editors Note- I’m a true Hingham native and love the Town of Hingham. I grew up on Hersey street, the Main street area and on Fort Hill Street.Hingham is a location scout’s dream, beautiful and historic homes,Hingham Square,a director’s dream as well. The Hingham Harbor area,in fact the fishing boat, the Orca came from Hingham for the first Jaws movie. The World’s end area was used in Ghost of Girl Friends Past for a few scenes with Jennifer Garner.
Hingham should be on the top of the list for movies made on the South Shore.Just the other day,Marblehead Mass reported that GrownUps2 netted over 4 million dollars for the seaside town and Hingham could reap the same benefits if a big Hollywood movie sets up shop in Hingham. In fact any South Shore town (s) like Cohasset,Scituate and the recent filming of Steve Carell’s Way Way Back movie shot around the Green Harbor area. That film recently wrapped. Hingham Town officials must realize that when a big film comes to town, the production company utilizes police and fire departments, recreation departments, town highway and of course the local restaurants, hardware store businesses such as nearbye hotels and motels for production personal. Everyone benefits from Hollywood and Hingham has put down the welcome mat for Hollywood to come to the Historic town of Hingham. It’s nice to have the Wahlbergs in town with their restaurants, maybe Mark Wahlberg can put in a good word to producers for upcoming projects that could be shot in the Hingham area.
